GENERAL PURPOSE

This is a  position responsible for providing support to the instructional program with specific responsibilities for facilitating student success in academic areas through mitigation of learning loss among students affected by the coronavirus and school closure, supervising students within the classroom and other assigned areas.  Also responsible for developing lesson plans and delivering group and individual student instruction within established curriculum guidelines to address learning loss and accelerate learning.  Also collaborates with internal stakeholders to address instructional and/or classroom issues; and responds to a wide range of inquiries from parents or guardians regarding the instructional program, student progress and supports for mitigating learning loss.

 

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Alongside classroom teachers, assess student progress towards objectives, expectations and/or goals providing feedback to students, parents, and administration.
• Attends regularly scheduled professional learning.
• Reviews and studies professional learning materials and texts to advance expertise and delivery of highest quality instructional practices. 
• Collaborates with administration,  instructional staff, other school personnel, parents and a variety of community resources to improve the overall quality of student outcomes, achieving established classroom objectives in support of the Building School Improvement Plan.
• Supports classroom teachers by assisting them in the implementation of curriculum and instructional delivery.
• Facilitates ongoing, meaningful professional learning including Professional Learning Communities for teachers and engages teachers in collaborative and reflective practice.  
• Engages in student centered coaching cycles to meet individual needs of teachers.
• Supports educators and leaders in utilizing data to inform decisions for planning, delivery, and assessment of instructional practices.
• Provides Step-Up early career teacher support services.
• Instructs students to improve their success in academics through a defined course of study. 
• Manages student behavior providing a safe and optimal learning environment.
• Prepares a variety of materials documenting student progress and meeting mandated requirements.
• Reports incidents maintaining personal safety of students, providing a positive learning environment and adhering to Education Code and school policies.
• Responds to emergency situations resolving immediate safety concerns and/or directing to appropriate personnel for resolution.
• Responds to inquiries from a variety of internal and external stakeholders resolving issues, providing information and/or direction.
• Perform other related duties as required/assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

 

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in job-related area from an accredited college or university, required.
• Secondary experience preferred.
• Three (3) years of successful job related experience is required.

 

Certificates, Licenses and Other Special Requirements

• Missouri Teacher Certification required.
• Ability to obtain and maintain “Highly Qualified” status as defined by Missouri’s Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, required.
• Secondary Teaching Certificate Required
• Must pass a Criminal Background Clearance the results of which must be satisfactory to the District, required.
• Will work an additional fifteen (15) days.
• Valid driver’s license with evidence of insurability.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

• Work environment is primarily inside, where the noise and temperature levels are moderate.
• The work is sedentary work that requires exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force to move objects.
• Must possess the physical ability to perceive the nature of sounds, make rational decisions through sound logic and deductive processes, express or exchange ideas by the spoken word, substantial movements (motions) with the hands, wrists, and/or fingers, and discern letters or numbers at a given distance.
• Additionally, the following physical abilities are required: balancing, climbing, crawling, crouching, feeling, grasping, handling, hearing, kneeling, manual dexterity, mental acuity, reaching, repetitive motion, speaking, standing, stooping, talking, visual acuity and walking.
