Purpose Statement

The Springfield, Missouri Public School District is currently seeking qualified applicants for the position of Video Producer.

 

The Springfield School District is Missouri’s largest public school district and has built a reputation of academic excellence based on the outstanding performance of our students and schools. About 25,000 students attend 36 elementary schools, an intermediate school, 9 middle schools, 5 high schools and a variety of alternative education and choice programs.

 

The job of Video Producer is done for the purpose/s of working with the Assistant Director of Blended Learning Development to develop, create and initiate adult and student online learning systems through the use of graphic design, web development and video editing skills. The Video Producer also develops content for the purpose of highlighting the various initiatives of Springfield Public Schools.

 

Essential Functions

  • Produces Springfield Public School marketing, inter-de-part mental, professional development, and model classroom videos for the purpose of highlighting best-practice and marketing the district’s vision and purpose.
  • Captures images and sounds with a DLSR camera and/or other recording equipment and performs editing of the resulting footage, which may include the visual design of a production, for the purpose of creating engaging videos.
  • Carries out online course development and facilitates appropriate updates and revisions to videos within courses as necessary for the purpose of maintaining a functional platform for Blended Learning courses.
  • Collaborates with department leadership from across Springfield Public Schools to provide high- quality and effective training and marketing videos for the purpose of providing a common message and cohesive visual image.
  • Develops images and audio/video to match the instructional content of courses for the purpose of creating engaging blended learning experiences.
  • Participates in meetings, processes, and professional learning for the purpose of implementing and maintaining programs and services which achieve the district’s strategic plan.
  • Works with the Director of Blended Learning Development to identify, evaluate, and respond to district video needs in order to highlight innovation and best-practices across the system.
  • Works collaboratively with the Director of Blended Learning Development and other Instructional Developers to design multimedia resources needed for the purpose of producing high quality online and blended learning opportunities for students and adult learners.
  • Collaborates with Instructional Developers to develop high-quality graphics and images for use in the district’s Learning Management System and other needs.

Other Functions

Performs other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.

 

Job Requirements (Minimum Qualifications)

 

Knowledge is required to perform basic math; read a variety of manuals, write documents following prescribed formats, and/or present information to others; and understand multi-step written and oral instructions. Specific knowledge based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: best practices for web design practices and electronic arts theory.

 

Skills are required to perform multiple, technical tasks with a need to occasionally upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: operating standard office equipment; using technology effectively to implement instruction and to manage documentation requirements; using DLSR cameras and a variety of lenses for video and photo needs: using pertinent software applications including Canvas Instructure Learning Management System and video editing software including Final Cut Pro, Final Cut X or other editing software; Adobe Photoshop; web design including maintaining Learning Management System; planning and managing projects; producing both video and graphic media and learning objects for the purpose of instruction; effectively communicating in both small and large groups.

 

Ability is required to schedule activities and/or meetings; often gather, collate, and/or classify data; and consider a variety of factors when using equipment. Flexibility is required to work with others in a wide variety of circumstances; analyze data utilizing defined but different processes; and operate equipment using a variety of processes. Ability is also required to work with a diversity of individuals and/or groups; work with data of varied types and/or purposes;  and utilize a variety of job-related equipment. Some problem solving may be required to identify issues and select action plans. Problem solving with data may require independent interpretation; and problem solving with equipment is moderate. Employee Punctuality and Appearance

In order for schools to operate effectively, employees are expected to perform all assigned duties and work all scheduled hours during each designated workday, unless the employee has received approved leave. Any deviation from assigned hours must have prior approval from the employee’s supervisor or building administrator. All employees are required to report to work dressed in a manner that reflects a positive image of Springfield School District and is appropriate for their position.

Terms of Employment

 

The terms of employment will be governed by applicable state laws regulating employment in a Missouri public school and Board of Education policy, as those laws and policies may change from time to time.  If your position is represented by Collective Bargaining Representative, then your employment will also be governed by a negotiated agreement between SPS and that Collective Bargaining representative.

 

Experience

 

Successful experience in web development, including the maintenance of Learning Management Systems for the purpose of online learning, preferred

 

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Media Production, Electronic Arts or an related to technology or video production, preferred
  • Equivalent years of job-related experience considered in lieu of this requirement

Miscellaneous Requirements

Background clearance, the results of which must be satisfactory to the District, required

 

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

 

The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, and some fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 40% sitting, 30% walking, and 30% standing. The job is performed under moderate temperature variations.
