Pay:                               $30 per hour (Not to exceed total pay outlined below)

*Pay not to exceed $1,260 per semester for 2-day per week work schedule

*Pay not to exceed $2,460 per semester for 4-day per week work schedule

FLSA Status:                  Non-Exempt

Reports to:                     Voyagers Liaison/Building Principal 

 

  • Start Date for 2nd Semester is January 13, 2025.
  • Length of Service: 20 sessions or 40 sessions or approximately 10-weeks before or after school (pending tier schedule) program each semester. All sessions must be completed by April 18, 2025.

 

  • 2-hour training required prior to start date.
    • Voyagers ELA: Training will be sent out with offer letters as a recorded zoom session. Additional information will be provided.
    • Voyagers Math: Training will be sent out with offer letters as a recorded zoom session.  Additional information will be provided.

 

GENERAL PURPOSE 

 

The Voyagers Tutor will deliver instruction and provide educational support to eligible first through sixth grade students who perform below grade level expectations in Literacy and/or Math. Voyagers services are offered to eligible students 90 minutes each day on a schedule determined at the site level, outside of the regular school day as scheduled by each elementary, intermediate and middle school campus.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Participates in a Voyagers 2-hour tutor training session at assigned tutorial site for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform the position’s functions. Trainings for liaisons and tutors will occur prior to the club start date.
  • Implement Voyagers curriculum for 20 sessions, 90 minutes per session (Math), 40 sessions, 90 minutes per session (Reading, 2nd-6th grade), and 40 sessions, 60 minutes per session (Reading, 1st grade, only available at Holland, McGregor, and Westport).
  • Prepare all materials for each tutoring session (supplies will be provided).
  • Communicate student successes to parents.
  • Remain with students after tutoring until all students have been picked up by approved guardian.
  • Communicate essential data to site liaison and coordinator on a regular and consistent basis.
  • Other tasks as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

Certificates, Licenses and Requirements 

  • Ability to obtain and maintain substitute certificate, or current teaching certificate is required, providing sufficient proof that the process has been started prior to hire (All fees for the initial substitute certificate and renewals, which occurs every 4 years, is the responsibility of the staff member; www.dese.mo.gov)
    Background clearance, the results of which must be satisfactory to the District, required

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

  • The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 20% sitting, 5% walking, and 75% standing.  This job is performed in a generally clean and healthy environment.
  • Work environment is primarily inside, where the noise and temperature levels are moderate.
  • The work is light work which requires exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force to move objects.
  • Must possess the physical ability to work primarily with fingers, perceive the nature of sounds, make rational decisions through sound logic and deductive processes, express or exchange ideas by the spoken word, substantial movements (motions) with the hands, wrists, and/or fingers, and discern letters or numbers at a given distance.
  • Additionally, the following physical abilities are required: balancing, grasping, hearing, manual dexterity, mental acuity, reaching, repetitive motion, speaking, visual acuity and walking.
