GENERAL PURPOSE

Responsible for supporting software systems and processes utilized by Human Resources and Business Services, serving as the software expert for both departments; analyzing departmental and individual requirements for business software solutions; implementing and maintaining applications.  Also documents system components and user instructions; gathering, analyzing, and developing reports; conveying information; developing and providing ongoing training and professional development; creating and maintaining knowledge of these software systems; and serving as a resource to others.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Administer human resource information systems by maintaining and updating related systems and providing updates to the human resource and business services departments.
  • Develop and maintain processes for all human resource and business services information systems.  
  • Collaborate with software vendors to report and correct software/data issues.
  • Collaborate with the business services, human resource, and information technology department to evaluate needs, design processes, and implement solutions in related information systems.
  • Design and implement system workflows for supporting human resource and business services processes.
  • Develop a wide variety of complex materials documenting activities, providing written reference and/or conveying information.
  • Create a professional development calendar in collaboration with the human resources and business services departments on the use and implementation of information systems.
  • Participate in a variety of meetings, workshops, and/or training conveying and/or gathering information required for their functions.
  • Prepare a wide variety of data files, reports, and documents conveying information, making recommendations, and delivering services in a timely fashion.
  • Respond to inquiries from a variety of District personnel providing technical assistance, advice and support.
  • Create and maintain knowledge base articles documenting the use of information systems and their related processes to empower users to solve common problems to inform users of how the system functions.
  • Perform other related duties as required/assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in technology, project management or related field, preferred.
  • Minimum of two (2) years job related experience with increasing levels of responsibility.

Certificates, Licenses and Other Special Requirements

  • Must pass a Criminal Background Clearance, the results of which must be satisfactory to the District, required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of algebra and/or geometry; review and interpret highly technical information, write technical materials, and/or speak persuasively to implement desired actions; and analyze situations to define issues and draw conclusions.
  • Knowledge based competencies required to perform the functions of the job include: Microsoft Office; Inter/Intranet applications; database querying; data security, processes and methodology; knowledge of structured query language (SQL). 
  • Knowledge based competencies in human resources, finances, payroll, and other general business practices.
  • Skill to perform multiple, technical tasks with a need to routinely upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions.
  • Skill based competencies required to perform the functions of the job, including operating job-related equipment; manipulating and analyzing large data sets; planning and delivering training on information systems; preparing and maintaining accurate records; and utilizing software applications.
  • Ability to read technical information, compose a variety of documents, and/or facilitate group discussions.
  • Ability to schedule a number of activities, meetings, and/or events; gather, collate, and/or classify data; and use job-related equipment.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

  • Work environment is primarily inside, where the noise and temperature levels are moderate.
  • The work is sedentary work that requires exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force to move objects.
  • Must possess the physical ability to perceive the nature of sounds, make rational decisions through sound logic and deductive processes, express or exchange ideas by the spoken word, substantial movements (motions) with the hands, wrists, and/or fingers, and discern letters or numbers at a given distance.
  • Additionally, the following physical abilities are required: balancing, climbing, crawling, crouching, feeling, grasping, handling, hearing, kneeling, manual dexterity, mental acuity, reaching, repetitive motion, speaking, standing, stooping, talking, visual acuity and walking.
